Fiorella Gianini graduated from the Art Academy, London in 2016. She is an experimental painter focusing on the contradictory relationship between attraction and repulsion. The juxtaposition of opposites in dyadic relationships influences her painting process as she mixes different paint bases with white spirit and rough materials like organza with PVC. Her use of unprimed canvases is purposeful in allowing the paint to resemble her conflicting feelings towards ‘perishable’ and ‘permanency’. Furthermore, the importance of time is integral to her practise. She begins each piece with kernels of paint before building upon generous layers of seemingly opposing materials to create a ‘new’ texture. Each work is composed as ‘incomplete’ as a representation of the time’s evolution.
